3ha of 200-year-old vines spread across 4 plots in the "Cordillera de Nahuelbuta". South facing vines at 350m (high-ish for the area). The wine is an expression of the granitic soil of the "cordillera" and of the vines roots which are very close to the ground. The soils are solidified magma, quartz, red clay, volcanic material from deep inside the volcano, so full of nutrients. The grapes are de-stemmed by hand and gently crushed. Gentle punching down every day, maybe a few times per day. One week maceration, fermentation in steel, then aged in 7-8 year old French and American oak barrels. Free-run and pressed juice is separated.
